The Truth In The World by designldg

"Myths and creeds are heroic struggles to comprehend the truth in the world."
(Ansel Adams – American photographer, 1902 – 1984)

This was shot before sunset at the tomb of Mohammad Ghaus in Gwalior in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
The light and shadows were playing through the jalis (latticed screen) in the galleries surrounding the Sufi saint mazaar (tomb).
The building, built in the late 16th century in the typical Mughal style, is enclosed on all sides by delicately carved lattices over which rises a large dome.
This place is a pilgrimage centre for both the Hindus and the Muslims and make this place of devotion is a symbol of brotherhood as this is where anyone can express his faith.

A Door To The Light by designldg

“There will always be a door to the light.”
(From “Kingdom Hearts, Vol. 1" by Shiro Amano)

There is a passage at Nepali ghat nearby the Ganges leading upper to the heart of the old city of Varanasi (Benaras).
It is a long corridor with several staircases drowned into a kind of darkness where it is difficult to breath during summers.
In addition this place is the kingdom of several bat colonies bringing a dark and gloomy atmosphere all around but at the end of this short cut there is “a door to the light”.

Talking of Dreams by designldg

“True, I talk of dreams,
Which are the children of an idle brain,
Begot of nothing but vain fantasy,
Which is as thin of substance as the air,
And more inconstant than the wind, who woos
Even now the frozen bosom of the north,
And, being anger’d, puffs away from thence,
Turning his side to the dew-dropping south.”
(From “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare)

If I am often talking of dreams with my images it is because what comes in front of my lens opens many dreams…like this view of the Lake Palace, on the Pichola Lake in beautiful Udaipur, the City of Lakes, in the state of Rajasthan in western India.
It was shot early in the morning from a window of the City Palace as winter was beginning…

The Breath Inside The Breath by designldg

“Are you looking for me?
I am in the next seat.
My shoulder is against yours.
you will not find me in the stupas,
not in Indian shrine rooms,
nor in synagogues,
nor in cathedrals:
not in masses,
nor kirtans,
not in legs winding around your own neck,
nor in eating nothing but vegetables.
When you really look for me,
you will see me instantly —
you will find me in the tiniest house of time.
Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
He is the breath inside the breath.”
(Kabir – mystic poet and saint of India, 1440–1518)

This picture was shot inside the Bara-Gumbad Mosque located in the Lodi Gardens in Delhi with architectural works of the 15th century which is extremely rich in arabesque stucco decoration and paintings consisting of floral and geometrical designs and quranic inscriptions, partaking both the Tughlaq and Mughal features.
